Road to Hana
Ultimate trip, best scenic drive to experience in Maui

[Pro tip] From lush waterfalls, to ocean views at every turn, the Hana Highway (Route 360) with its approximately 620 curves is sure to be an experience you will not soon forget. The highway is nestled directly on the coastline, hugging the tropical rain-forests on one side and crystal clear waters of the Pacific Ocean on the other. The Slingshot open-air roadster is the perfect vehicle to explore this epic route, taking in every sight, smell and turn. Make sure to check-out the numerous fruit stands and rainbow eucalyptus trees along the route.

The Road to Hana is more than just a great drive through a beautiful area of Maui. Most visitors tend to zip to and from Hana with a checklist of sights to photograph. This is the wrong way to do it. Do your due diligence beforehand, decide on a few locations that look the most intriguing, and take your time at each location. In order to truly experience Hana, it helps to know more about the history and legends of the area. You may find out that there are legendary stories associated with each spot where Gods have left their mark and historic battles have been fought. Transport yourself not only to Hana, but back in time to the historic moments and legendary tales that shape the islands.

Trip to West Maui
See and feel Olawalu, Lahaina, Kanapali beach, and Kapalua.

[Guide tip] This route will take you approximately 45 miles away from Wailea/Kihei area. Most of the drive is along the ocean, feel the fresh tropics with a splash of ocean in your mists. Stop at Olowalu for a quick bite at Leoda's Kitchen or skip that and continue your way to Lahaina. There you find a plenty of shopping, restaurants and entertainment. Farther up the road next town is Kaanapali, famous kaanapali beach and Whalers village mall. If you feel like exploring, we'd suggest go all the way up north to Kapalua where you can find more lush scenery, plenty of gorgeous golf courses and hike trail / board walk along the beach. While you in the area, check out worlds famous surf spot Honolua Bay. Lastly, check out a Nakalele Blowhole, a little hike down but plenty to see.

West Maui is home to loads of beautiful beaches, and the towns of Lahaina and Ka'anapali. To the north of this region, Ka'anapali and Kapalua boast plenty of higher-end condos and resort hotels, plus four world-class golf courses. Lahaina, the most-visited spot on Maui, is midway around the head and where you'll find lower and mid-range lodging options. Onie down side of this route, there is only one narrow two-lane road in and out makes for the most congested traffic in Maui. Most traffic is between 2-5 pm especially on holidays.

Drive up the Haleakala
Lovely ride from sea level to 10020 feet, only in Maui

[Guide tip] Visit to Haleakalā National Park is one of the most popular things to do on Maui. You starting out at latterly sea level, and driving up, all the way up to summit of the mountain.

Many visitors wake up early to drive to the Haleakala Visitor Center, the best spot to watch what may be the most spectacular sunrise on earth. As the sun peeks over the horizon, an ever-changing swirl of color and light dance across the vast sea of clouds—a sight described by Mark Twain as “the most sublime spectacle I have ever witnessed.” Perhaps just as impressive are Haleakala’s sunsets and the bright, starry skies revealed at night. Remember, the NATIONAL PARK SERVICE NOW REQUIRES A RESERVATION FOR PERSONAL AND RENTAL VEHICLES TO VIEW THE SUNRISE FROM THE SUMMIT DISTRICT.
